Let’s talk!

VON ANGELA

We have enjoyed a lot our first week learning German. The competency games were the funniest. And our teacher Nadine knows that. She uses it to make us learn the numbers and the articles. That is very funny because we have the same level so the competition is hard-fought. With the articles we made two groups and Nadine said one word. The group, which told her the article correctly, won. Finally the two teams evened the score.

Every day we have conversation between us. But today was different. We went to the cafeteria and we practice what we have learned in class. Everyone spoke with the waiter and asked for something to drink or to eat. And beside we had time to talk and know each other better. It was very entertaining and we were speaking German in the same time!

Welcome to Vienna!

VON ANGELA

Vienna is a small city but with international environment. Here you can find very beautiful architectural ensembles like baroque castles, cathedrals, gardens, monuments. Everything is clean and organized. It is the city of music, because of its musical legacy and it is the city of dreams because it was home of Sigmund Freud, the father of psycho-analyst.

But what is really amazing for me is that everybody in this place is enjoying in their houses and flats of water comes directly from the mountains. We are drinking and taking a shower with pure water. Vienna’s water comes from the Lower Austrian-Styrian Alps. The water reaches Vienna without pumps through galleries and due to extensive spring protection, the water needs no treatment. I think this was one good reason to be ranked in the first place of cities with best quality of life in the world. Vienna was in this place for four years (2009-2012) until 2012 when this status changed and Vienna was ranked number two.

The English name Vienna is borrowed from the Italian name Vienna. Vienna and the official German name Wien, are thought to be derived from the Celtic word „windo-„, meaning bright or fair.  But there are different opinions about that. Some said that the name comes from Vedunia, meaning „forest stream,“ And this make sense thank to beautiful forest stream there are in and around the city.

Why DeutschAkademie?

VON ANGELA

Because it has a good method, good teachers, is located in a very central and interesting street, and because is the cheapest in Vienna. One of my friends from Colombia is living in this city since last year. He studied here and suggested to me this place. He told me that DeutschAkademie has very good teachers and the small groups (we are eight in my class) allow everyone to speak many times during the class. That is very important when you want to learn a new language. And I need to speak German as soon as possible. I’m living here, I want to work here, and I would like to understand what my boyfriend’s friends are talking when we are visiting them. I don’t want to go to places where everybody speaks in German and I don’t understand anything…. Now my live is changing…  Good!

Hello everybody!!

VON ANGELA

My name is Angela Sanabria, I´m from Colombia but I lived in Spain for more than eight years. So, I’m Spanish too. Last year I came to live in Vienna with my boyfriend and my little daughter. My boyfriend is from Austria and we came to live to this beautiful country for that reason. At home we speak in Spanish and English. But since my daughter started to go to Kindergarten we speak in German too. I said we, but that is not completely true… I was the only one who didn’t speak German. Until I decided to start!! I´m a journalist and I really need to speak German to develop my career in this country. Today was my second class and I’m really happy. I’m going to share with all of you my experience in DeutschAkademie during my first level. In the picture I´m enjoying one of the beautiful parks of Vienna.

My first day at DeutschAkademie!

VON ANGELA10032014452

Today was the first German class to everybody and it was very funny. We learnt how to introduce ourselves and another person. The teacher is a very creative young woman from Vienna. She told us how to ask where are you from, where do you live, what is this, and some questions that we use frecuently living in Vienna.

We were eigth people and everybody was from different places. Italy, Spain, Japan, Rumania, Colombia, Kosovo, Kuwait and Kazakhstan was represented in this small class. Almost everybody speak english so the teacher helped us with many words that we didn´t understand because we are in the first level.

We asked and answered questions between us. It was very good because we lost fear of talking in german. The teacher gave us some gramar lessons and told us how to pronounce some vocals and the vocabulary. We spelled our names and the cities where we came from. Everybody speak in all exercises and we finished the class talking in german between us. Great! Best regards!
